For Septic Installers

Stop losing perc-test jobs to your 1999 proposal.

A triplicate-form estimate at the consult, the perc test in an email a week later, the permit paperwork half-promised — that's why you're losing installs, not your bid. Glewit ships your septic proposal as one branded document in minutes, with design specs and permit-ready paperwork built in. Free trial. Septic catalog included.

The proposal that should take 30 minutes takes three days.

A septic proposal has too many moving parts. You're waiting on the town OWTS coordinator to schedule the perc test before you can size anything. You're recalculating tank size, drain-field length, and price every time the customer asks about a different system option. You're chasing the system designer to stamp the drawings before the state will issue the permit. By the time the proposal goes out, the customer has called two other installers.

Proposal → Contract → Handover

Project data flows forward — enter it once, render it three ways. Every field on the proposal carries through to the contract and the handover packet.

Your septic catalog, ready to ship.

Glewit ships a septic catalog seeded with the line items, prices, and scope language you actually quote. Edit it in Settings — or skip the seed and author your own.

Questions septic contractors ask

What happens if the perc test fails after I've already signed the contract?
The septic-construction pack ships Section 13 of the contract template specifically for this — a perc-test-and-design-contingency clause. Failed perc tests and DEM-rejected designs are common enough in OWTS installation that they're handled in the default contract rather than added per-project. The clause is plain text you can edit in Settings → Contract Template — adjust the contingency terms, refund handling, and design-rework procedure to match your business.
Does the contract template handle the wastewater permitting authority separately from the town building inspector?
Yes. Section 6 (permits and inspections) covers DEM permit coordination and town OWTS coordinator notification — the septic-specific AHJ pattern, where the OWTS coordinator is a separate municipal role from the town building inspector. The clause references the staged DEM inspection model (tank install, distribution box, drain field pre-cover, final). Out-of-state operators swap RI DEM for their state's equivalent (MA Title 5 / Board of Health, etc.) without code changes.
How does the system designer engagement get billed?
Section 6 covers Class IV designer engagement (RI-specific licensing tier; other states use equivalent PE-stamped engineering): designer fees billed at cost when system design requires engineering above the operator's in-house capability. The starter catalog ships a separate 'Septic System Design Coordination' line item priced per hour for the operator's coordination time. Designer fees themselves pass through at cost per Section 6 — the operator's billable time is the catalog item.
Can I price 1,000 and 1,500 gallon tanks separately, or do I have to pick one?
The starter catalog ships septic-tank-install as one line item with operator-selected size — 1,000 / 1,500 gallon residential — using the catalog variant pattern. If your business prices them as separate catalog items (different markup, different default-on flags, different brochures), Settings → Catalog → Add Item lets you split them. Both flows work; pick what fits your pricing model.
Can I send the proposal with a system designer's stamp attached as a PDF exhibit?
Use the proposal's notes block to reference the designer's stamped drawings — it renders as a free-form text section on the customer-facing PDF with whitespace preserved. Operators typically paste the system specifications and reference the stamped drawing by date and designer name. Per-proposal PDF-exhibit attachment richer than text reference is filed as a future feature; for now share the stamped drawing outside Glewit and reference it in the notes block.
Do Infiltrator brochures auto-embed, or do I upload them once?
Upload once. Each equipment variant in your catalog carries a brochure URL pointing at a PDF you uploaded. When a line item includes a brochure-enabled variant, the proposal renderer pulls that PDF and embeds the pages. Update the brochure once; every future proposal uses the current version.
